I Am The Man In The Tape

The Star reported that Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek admitted he is the politician in the sex DVDs circulating in Johor.

The sex DVDs, on two discs, show Dr Chua and a woman engaging in various sexual antics. The two DVDs had been circulating in Muar, Tangkak and Batu Pahat over the past few days.

Dr Chua said the girl is his “personal friend”.

He apologised to the Malaysian public, his supporters and colleagues.

He said he did not make the tape himself.

Dr Chua said he will not resign over the sex DVDs. He will leave that up to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to decide.

“I have seen the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting and I have personally apologised to them,” he said while reading from a one-page statement during a press conference here Tuesday.

Do You Wanna Buy My Used Panties ?

China Press has reported that an 18 year-old student in Singapore is openly selling worn-cum-unwashed thongs, panties and bras via the internet.

The newspaper wrote that the student posted pictures of her undergarments with price tags in her blog. The blog also has pictures of her wearing thongs.

A pair of panties costs RM69 while a bra goes for RM115. Pictures of the student (not showing her face) in underwear are also available at RM23 each.

The student, calling herself Pamela, said the sale was to help finance her studies.

Pamela said she did not meet up with her clients and provide “extra” service other than selling them the used items.

She said all items purchased were immediately sealed in plastic bags and posted.

Apparently business has been brisk for the past month for Pamela as she has sold four pairs of G-strings and a few pictures of her in thongs.

Currently, the unsold undergarments posted in her blog include eight G-strings and four bras.

------------

Her sales pitch on her personal website says it all.

'Hi boys! I am just your average schoolgirl selling her panties to horny boys like you, with the exception that I am one really really horny schoolgirl.'

I Am Lazy

The Malay Mail has reported that Sri Kota Supermarket in Taman Danau Desa, Kuala Lumpur, has had one of its foreign employee hang a sign with the words ‘Sorry, I am Lazy’ around his neck.

A Belgian expatriate stunned by what he saw took a picture of the worker and e-mailed it to Weekend Mail last week.

The Belgian said that it is a shame that this has happened as there is no way one would see something like this in Brussels, London or Paris.

When approached, the supermarket worker in question, who identified himself as Salim from Bangladesh, seemed nervous and was taken aback when shown the picture of him with the sign around his neck.

Salim’s job requires him to carry and sort out boxes, and to clean up, among others. He barely spoke or understood English.

Pasaraya SJ Kota Sdn Bhd which operates the supermarket has since "expressed regret" over the incident and has on the same day submitted a report to the Labour Department.

Sexy And Spicy Dish In Johor

According to the NST a restaurant in Taman Skudai Baru in Johor Bahru which served a "spicy dish" - scantily-clad showgirls, was busted by the police yesterday.

The girls apparently would perform on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights between midnight and 1am.

On these nights, the restaurant would be packed with mostly male customers as the showgirls would shed their clothes piece by piece until their bra and shorts.

A 28-year-old scantily clad singer was arrested by the police when she was making her rounds through the restaurant's tables about 12.30am.

Diners who appreciated her performance could tip her by buying a bouquet costing RM10 or a sash costing between RM50 and RM1,000.

Bomoh Defeats Pontianak

Berita Harian has reported that a bomoh (traditional healer) in Batu Pahat claimed to have captured a pontianak (female vampire) that had been harassing a family in Kampung Parit Jalil, Parit Sulong for more than two weeks.

The bomoh, Mohd Razali Palil, 46, claimed that he managed to “defeat” the vampire two days ago. He released it after warning it never to bother the family again.

He added the vampire had been harassing the family from morning till night every day, and regularly revealed itself to the family members.

“I told it to return to its owner after I managed to subdue it by reading some scriptures said the bomoh.

“Such beings usually have an owner who is up to no good,” said Mohd Razali, who is better known to locals there as Wak Jah from Ladang Chaah, Segamat.

Malaysian University Ranked No. 1

I can imagine reading in the local newspapers - "Malaysian University ranked No. 1 in (a newly created local university / world ranking index)". Maybe this will be created in the very near future.

However, in the mean time, according to the Times Higher Education Supplement (THES)-Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings this year, no Malaysian universities have made it to the top 200 universities in the world. See Top Universities

UM - 246th spot this year
UM, which was ranked among the world's top 100 universities in 2004, was in 169th position in 2005 and 192nd spot in 2006.

UKM - 309 spot this year
UKM ranked 185th in 2005.

USM - 307th spot this year
USM was 8 in the 277th spot in 2006.

Read the full article in the NST here

It was usual for us to struggle to remain in the top 100. Now we are fighting to be within the top 200. Lets make things easy. Why not create our own university rankings ? That way, we can include criteria that other universities "cannot meet" (or don't bother to meet) thus come out tops - I'll leave this to your imagination...hahahaha

Well, we have already done this before. We have our own book of records - The Malaysian Book of Records and our own credit rating agency - Rating Agency Malaysia. Why not our own top university rankings ?

I propose it to be called, The Malaysian-Global University Rankings or The Malaysian Glocal University Rankings ?

I also propose that those who disgree with my suggestion be caught and forced to study (kite flying or top spinning) at a local university, for life. lol

Please post your comments. Tell me what you think ? please make it funny ;)

Run Casanova, Run

It has been reported Harian Metro that a group of Casanovas has been preying on married women for their money by enticing them with sweet words of love and affection.

As usual, when the victim fell for the Casanova, he would tell her sob stories about failing businesses, marriages etc to gain the victim's sympathy and trust.

Once the woman is caught in the Casanova's bait, he would shamelessly ask the women for financial assistance. In most instances, the Casanova would succeed.

Some victims claim that the men also used sorcery or black magic to get them to part with their money.

A victim who's called Ani, in her 30s, claimed that she was pestered by a man when she attended a course. She then found herself attracted to him and gave him money whenever they met. When her husband found out, he quickly sought the help of a bomoh who told them that she had been affected by black magic used by the Casanova.

What do you think about this ?

Teh Tarik Blues

There appears to be a trend among "mamak restaurants" to charge an additional 50 sen for a mug of teh tarik.

Whilst teh tarik in these shops are in marginally larger glasses (containing approximately 20% more tea), customers are charged RM1.50 for it.

I have noticed that the RM1 mug of teh tarik is no longer a choice - they are no longer served.

"Takda kecil punya, semua standard satu saiz", the mamak guy told me.

Previously the standard mug (medium) is RM1.20, now its RM1.50.

Can employees demand a pay hike from their bosses too ?

Comments please....

Forest Spirit Vs Bomoh

A bomoh fainted as she was possessed (possibly attacked) by a forest spirit at a forest near Taman Teja in Changlun, about 40km from Alor Star.

The bomoh, one of several whose help was sought to locate Nor Adilah Omar, who lived in the housing estate, was reported missing.

Apparently the spirit had warned the search party through the bomoh not to disturb the other spirits in the forest.

The bomoh regained consciousness just as the search party received news that Nor Adilah had been found in Gunung Keriang, some 50km away.

Get Rewarded By Being A Bad Employee

We all know that in Malaysia, just like anywhere else around the world, there are some employees who seem just useless or f*cked up, but yet they don't get fired. Some even get promoted, making it seem that being useless or f*cked up is actually being encouraged and rewarded by the company.

CareerBuilder.com gives 10 reasons why this is so:

1. The employee has a relationship with someone higher up - connections; those people with "ampu bodek" skills ("cable" or crony colloqually called in Malaysia).

2. The boss relies on the employee - he / she has some "special skills" or resource (whether work related or not) that the boss likes.

3. The employee brings more value to the company than he or she costs - again, he / she has some "special skills" or resource (whether work related or not) that is beneficial to the company.

4. The boss thinks it could be worse - the boss thinks that better the bad employee than nothing. This usually happen in my experience when the boss is not willing to pay market rate for top employees.

5. The boss is afraid of the employee - the employee might know some of the boss' or company's "secrets" thus can blackmail them, the employee is a thug and the boss is afraid of violent consequences etc

6. The boss feels sorry for the employee - the employee might be to sole bread winner of his family, he or his family members have health problems etc

7. The boss doesn't want to go through the hiring process - the boss is too busy or lazy to look for another employee. In some cases the boss himself have some personality defects that only this employee can tolerate. (this is related to number 4 above)

8. The employee knows something - the employee might have some connections with major customers, or have intimate information about an ongoing business of the company etc (this is related to number 1 and 4 above)

9. The employee has everybody fooled - the employee is good at playing "office politics" and is skillful at manipulating people and the work environment for his own benefit. He knows how to "play tai chi" or "main wayang kulit" (colloqually called in Malaysia).

10.
He or she is not really a bad employee - the employee is only perceived as a bad employee. He / she is not a genius but is average and do perform tasks allocated to him /her.

I think whatever it is, you need some kind of advantage ("kelebihan") that the boss or the company has no choice but to keep you on the pay roll or even be forced to promote you.

The best "kelebihan" I can think of are having good connections, proficiency at office politics, being tolerant to an idiotic boss and being the cheapest (salary) in the job market (cheapskate bosses like this).

Please post your comments, what do you think ?

Sex For Free

Pursuant to my previous post on Dr. Love of Singapore, I've decided to post something related as I think Dr. Love is over charging his customers - RM1,600 just to learn about sex.

The Malaysian Life in collaboration with Cosmopolitan Magazine presents: Sex Positions.

For more advanced readers, you can proceed to try more advanced techniques: Advanced Sex Positions.

Just remember, you can't learn everything all at once. Take your time. If you still need further assistance after reading these instructions, I'm sure there will be volunteers from readers of this blog.

So now from this blog, you can learn the basics (to advanced) sex positions, for free. Absolutely Free.

I'm just feeling a little generous at the end of the year. ;)

Sex Party In Penang

The police raided a gay sex party held in a shoplot in Penang last Sunday and arrested 34 men aged between 22 and 55 including a British guy.

The sex party was held in a fitness centre-cum-sauna which was on the 3rd floor of the shoplot.

Several tubes of lubrication gel, gay magazines, pornographic VCDs and a few boxes of condoms were also seized from the premises.

Read the full story in The Star.

I heard there are similar parties in KL for straight people as well - swinging. Apparently these private parties are held discreetly in hotels suites. The organisers charge participants a fee for the room, drinks and some food. Participants have to bring a partner. No partner, no entry.

Malaysians Like It Doggy Style

According to a Malay Mail survey said that most Malaysian like it from behind - doggy style. This was the top sex position for KL folks. The paper wrote that 38% of guys prefer this position, whilst missionary is a close second (21%). Women on the other hand prefer the missionary position (32%).

84% of those surveyed said that sex is a stimulating and relaxing activity that benefits one's health. An average of 72% respondents said they were sexually active between 4 and 6 sessions in the last one month. The study also found that those between 18 and 28 indulge in sexual intercourse more often than those in the higher age bracket.

A cock leads the chickens (not the other way around)

A cock stands straight, walks straight, thinks straight and is straight (not bent)

A cock likes chickens (not other cocks)

A cock talks cock (but dont sing songs)

Fear The Bomoh Or The Ghosts ?

In conjunction with Halloween tomorrow, I've decided to post something related to the occasion.

Why you must be very careful in dealing with spiritualist ?

Because of the dubious nature of their practice, spiritualist have always had a shady reputation, these are a few of many examples:

In October, last month, it was reported in The Star that a woman bomoh at Jalan Pantai Cahaya Bulan in Kota Baru was dancing in the nude with young men as part of her “treatment for patients”.

The Star also published a story last month about a bomoh, Zulkifly Mustafa, 45 who raped his daughter's friend (who was 17 at that time) by persuading her to undergo a nikah batin (spiritual marriage) with him before raping her.

The Star also had a report in 2002 about bomoh Munawar Ismail, 35 who raped a 14 year old girl.

Last month, the NST reported about a spiritual healer called Nandu (crab) Bala, 40, who runs a commune in Kampung Oren, Johor Baru where he enslaves women. Apparently the women were given baths by Bala and would be molested by him during the ritual.

The NST reported last year that Syed Abdullah Alattas, the founder of paranormal group Seekers Malaysia, is doing research to find out the habits and behaviour of ghosts, including how they have sex.

News24 reported in 2003 that the Malaysian police had arrested a local witch doctor for allegedly ordering his patient to have sex with him in order for her to be released from an evil spell. The 43-year old traditional medicine man told the patient, that she was under a spell, before bringing her to a private room for her to undress. The shaman then began molesting her as part of ‘cleansing rituals’ and ended his session by ordering her to have sex with him in order to ensure she would be safe from future spells. After the sessions, the 24-year old woman said the witch doctor showed her three small stones and some thorns which he said were removed from her private parts, and which he claimed were causing her the chest pains.

There was a story on BBC News, in November 2003, about an Indonesian dukun (a bomoh) called Gus. Gus told the BBC that he had inherited his magical powers from his grandfather. He claimed that he could cure many ailments and could also summon spirits. Gus said that he was often asked to help people who believe they are victims of black magic, known in Indonesia as Santet. He nevertheless could not explain why he was only successful in exorcising an evil spirit from a patient with the presence of a journalist, although the patient had sought treatment from him for more than a year.

There is an online news report that professional Vietnamese psychic Hoang Thi Thiem, claims she can speak with the dead. The report also says there are currently 10 psychics now prominent in Vietnam out of more than 100 spirit mediums in "the profession".

There was a report by the Boneo Post that a couple having an extramarital affair sought medical help after their bodies became “inseparable” in an intimate relationship while they were romancing at a beach in Mukah, Sarawak. Apparently the husband of the woman had earlier employed the services of a bomoh to “lock her body up with the man” when they committed adultery.

Do you guys belive in these "paranormal" stuff ? please post your comments.

Learn How To F*ck For RM1,600

Hello all, Im back (after a few weeks away). As a treat, I'm posting about one of Malaysians evergreen favorite topic - sex. I can imagine you guys (and gals) smiling already....LOL
Last Saturday, the Star reported (originally from China Press) that in Singapore, a sex guru calling himself Dr Love is sought by newly married couples to teach them how to obtain satisfaction in sex.

Now, this is not sex education, it is sex training !

Apparently Dr Love shows the clueless couple various sexual intercouse techniques and explains the techniques to them. Couple also have sex in front of Dr. Love for him to "correct their mistakes". Hahahaha. Dr. Love charges S$700 (RM1,600) as consultation fee.

Please note that it is not reported if Dr. Love actually participates in the sexual act. Or if he charges more should there be a request for him to participate in it. The report also doesn't say if Dr. Love massages the guy's "choon toi" (testicles) if he cannot get a firm erection. LOL.

Wow !!! what a way to earn a living. I think Dr. Love is a brilliant guy.

Ah Chong who sells DVDs at the pasar malam near my house can also recommend couples "instructional sex videos" for RM10 each. He will also willingly participate and give you the videos for free. No need to pay RM1,600 for Dr. Love to watch you have sex lah...stupid Singaporeans. Even my dog can teach you how to have sex, for goodness sake !

I am so damn puzzled with Singaporeans, at least Malaysians know (a little bit) about making cars (Kereta Proton) - Singaporeans don't know even how to make love.

Read the full story in the Star here.

Ok, you know what to do now....post your comment :)

Black Magic And Superstition - Leaders and Victims

It is well known that Malaysians are generally a superstitious lot. Irrespective of race, Malaysians still believe that they can better achieve wealth, power, career, love etc with the help of supernatural means. We all know of people that have sought the assistance of bomohs (Malay witch doctors), feng shui masters (Chinese geomancers), Chinese and Indian astrologers and mediums etc to achieve whatever their goals are in life.

Most Malaysian still remember the famous bomoh Mona Fendy's case in 1993 - She killed and chopped her client, the then Batu Talam Assemblyman, Datuk Mazlan Idris into 18 pieces. Mona Fendy and her 2 accomplices were sentenced to death in 1995 and were hanged in 2001.

It was apparently reported by a well known online newspaper, last year, that a famous "bomoh politik"Awang Mohd Yahya admitted that Malaysian politicians seeking top posts in their party elections have sought his help.

Apparently Asahan, in Sumatera, Indonesia is well known for "bomoh tourism" - Malaysians visit Asahan to consult its powerful bomohs.

It is also rumoured that Blitar, a city in East Java, Indonesia, the birthplace of Sukarno (Indonesia's first president), also attracts "tourists" seeking assistance from its famous bomohs.

It is also not unusual to hear of Malaysians traveling all the way to Thailand and India to seek "spiritual guidance" from spiritualists there.

Are Malaysians the only ones obsessed with the supernatural ?

It has been reported in The Times that Burma’s Junta are intensely superstitious and have long been guided by a belief in prophecies, cosmology, numerology, magic etc

The newspaper further reported that politicians, in general, are superstitious:
  • Hitler, Holy Roman Emperor Rudolph II, Ronald and Nancy Reagan, Charles de Gaulle, François Mitterrand and Leonid Brezhnev have all sought advice from astrologers
  • President Roosevelt would apparently never travel on a Friday
  • Napoleon feared black cats, and believed that eating chicken and crayfish would bring victory
  • Catherine de’ Medici consulted Nostradamus
“We stand at the edge of the age of reason. A new era of the magical explanation of the world is rising”, said Hitler.

Well, we all know what happened to Hitler, right ?

The Times also quoted Gilbert Murray having once said “The best seed ground for superstition is a society in which the fortunes of men seem to bear practically no relation to their merits or effort.”

In 1970, Time Magazine reported that Indonesia's President Suharto and members of the Thai elite do rely on the advice of spiritualists. The magazine also said that the then Malaysian Minister of Works Tun V.T. Sambanthan regularly consults Hindu priests to determine the best days to open new facilities. However it reported that Lee Kuan Yew and President Marcos were the only 2 leaders in this region who do not believe in the supernatural. The ex President of Sri Lanka is believed to have used military helicopters to drop blessed soil on territories as advised by his astrologers.

Well, I believe that I must now get dressed and go for a cool beer or whatever, on a beautiful Saturday like this - Bye !.

Don't forget to tell me...what do you believe ?

How special are you ? Lessons from Mourinho

José Mourinho the Manager of Chelsea Football Club was sacked last week. Although I'm not a Chelsea fan but what happened to Mourinho reminds us of some very important lessons...
  • You must never forget who your boss is
  • You must kiss your boss' arse and make him like you
  • You are not special, your boss is
  • Your boss' opinion of you, whilst arbitrary, is much more important that what others think of you
  • You can be replaced by someone else - talent can be bought.
In January this year, the BBC Sport reported, amid rumours that Mourinho will leave Chelsea, that John Terry said he was prepared to lead a players' protest to persuade the club's hierarchy (i.e. Abramovich) to keep Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

I would like to say this to John Terry: John, you are a nobody. You're an employee just like Mourinho, if you wanna act like a "tai-kor" rebel, you will
also be sacked by Abramovich. All employees are replaceable.

For non-football fans read this first

For the the benefit of you non-football fans, I will elaborate a little on José Mourinho.
Mourinho is a very successful football club manager because he won four consecutive league titles (two at Porto [a top Portuguese football club] and two at Chelsea) and also the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Cup with Porto. Mourinho is also currently the most successful manager in Chelsea's history having won a total of six trophies for Chelsea in three years.

Mourinho moved from Porto to Chelsea in June 2004 becoming one of the highest paid managers in football with a salary of £4.2 million a year, subsequently raised in 2005 to £5.2 million.

He is referred to by the media as the "special one" because of what he said at a press conference after joining Chelsea: "Please don't call me arrogant, but I'm European champion and I think I'm a special one".

Despite being disliked by managers, players and fans of other football clubs in England, Mourinho is somewhat a folk hero at Chelsea.

His boss was Chelsea's owner, Roman Abramovich, a Russian billionaire. According to Forbes magazine, Abramovich has a net worth of $18.7 billion and is the 16th riches man in the world. Abramovich is currently the riches man living in the UK. He bought Chelsea Football Club in 2003.

Abramovich and Mourinho started having some misunderstandings last year over the management of Chelsea. Despite José Mourinho achievements at Chelsea, Abramovich unexpectedly and without prior warning sacked Mourinho last week, 20 September 2007, giving some frivolous and lame excuse. Abramovich then replaced Mourinho with unknown manager Avram Grant. Note that Abramovich appointed Grant although Grant has no significant achievements in high level professional football competitions.

Don't give me a missed call, dammit !

Aren't you annoyed at some inconsiderate people who give you a "missed call" on your mobile phone and expect you to call them back ?. Another variation of this is the standard text (sms) message that says "please call me". I personally have not received very many missed calls or call me text massages. If I did, I would just ignore them - no call backs from me. Or if I'm feeling sarcastic, I would return their missed call, by giving them missed calls in return, or send them back a standard call me back text. My motto is, if you cannot afford to use a mobile phone, don't. Send an email, instead.

I'm thus not surprised to read the report in Yahoo News that this "missed call" practice is prevalent in 3rd world countries in Africa as well.

Giving a missed call is also called "beeping" or "flashing" in some African countries.

According to the report, there is even a "social protocol" for this practice, namely:
  • Beep richer guys than you
  • Don't beep someone if you intend to ask a him favour
  • Don't beep your girlfriend
In Malaysia I noticed that people who get loads of missed calls are:

  • sales people (call me back, I want to ask you something about your service / product)
  • students (aiyah, no prepaid credit lah !)
  • men with "working class" female friends (the girls will always beep the guys)
  • those with cheapskate "friends"
Have you guys been irritated by being beeped ? Share your comments.

Turn Your Hobby Into A Business

If you want to do meaningful work and change your career, you should maybe consider starting with your hobby.

According to an article in Monster.Com, if you intend to turn your hobby into a business, you must first be sure that your hobby has commercial potential - being passionate about something is not enough. You can begin by researching job / career sites to see if there are any jobs that relate to your hobby.

Then, you must consider whether you would be happy working in it as a business. Remember that doing something as a hobby is different than doing something as a business.

"When your hobby becomes your work, it may not be the same," says Bevington. "This change can take the fun out of what you are doing. In addition to making the product or providing the service, you now have to think about pricing, deadlines, doing it someone else's way, etc." said Nancy Hayes Bevington, a management consultant.

Bevington also stated that your personal experience won't necessarily be transferable professionally. "The workplace will look at you as someone who comes in with no professional experience, even if you have done this for years" on a personal level, she said.

You must be willing to start from the bottom again, to gain experience doing your "hobby" on a professional basis. You can do this by working for a small outfit, first.

Curt Rosengren, a career consultant advised not to quit your day job, yet. He suggested that you "continue to do what you are doing to bring in revenue, while taking a parallel path to help make the transition" to your hobby job.

The ULTIMATE Ramadan Bazzar and Hotel Buffet List

In its Metro section on 23 September 2007, The Star has reported that "just days into the fasting month, already the air of festivity cannot be nudged aside as people throng the Ramadan bazaars for tasty treats. It has been the norm that long before the start of Ramadan, the elaborate and painstaking preparation for it would have already started. For hotels, every detail would have been looked into to revise and update menus for the daily buka puasa events. For bazaars, though the planning is at a smaller scale, the preparation is no less gruelling and time-consuming" - read the full story here.

The World's Secret Billionaire

Who is Chuck Feeney ?

You will not believe that Chuck Feeney is a billionaire. According to published sources, he carries plastic bag that serves as a briefcase, wears a $15 plastic watch, flies economy class and does not own a house or car. Chuck Feeney was born in New Jersey during the Depression to a blue-collar Irish-American family, he co-founded Duty Free Shoppers, the world's largest duty-free retail chain. In 1988 he was listed by Forbes Magazine as the 23rd richest American alive and worth $1.3 billion, richer than Rupert Murdoch and Donald Trump.

Thus far, Chuck Feeney has given billions away to schools, hospitals, universities, medical research and human rights from the United States and Ireland to South Africa and Vietnam.

He is obsessed in keeping his identity a secret. He incorporated his charitable foundation in Bermuda and attached confidentiality agreements and cabal-like vows of secrecy to his foundation's grants. After the cashier's checks cleared, there were no black-tie parties, no self-effacing speeches.

I have tried searching for his photo on the internet, but can't find even one - the photos listed on Google Image search, isn't him.

His photo is not even published on his charitable foundation's website The Atlantic Philanthropies

However, there is a rare group photo of him published by Time Magazine in 1997

According to news reports, Chuck Feeney made money in his youth selling Christmas cards door-to-door, clearing snow from driveways and caddying at golf courses. He loved the challenge of making money but had little use for it.

"The Billionaire Who Wasn't: How Chuck Feeney Secretly Made and Gave Away a Fortune" is a new book written by Journalist Conor O'Clery about this remarkable man.

Do you like it black and strong ?

Know your coffee.

Malaysians these days like to drink "Gourmet" coffee...at franchised cafes...talking away on their hand phones and tapping away at their laptops, while sipping their favorite java. Wah, how classy ! - just like in Paris or New York ;)

Not important facts about coffee

Coffee can trace its history as early as the 9th century, from the highlands of Ethiopia. From Ethiopia, coffee spread to the Middle East and to rest of Africa, then to Italy (and Europe).

Although there are about 10 types of coffee species in the world, Arabica and Robusta are the most common coffee beans traded.

Arabica, however, represents about 75% of the world's coffee trade.

Arabica is a species of coffee indigenous to Ethiopia; it is hand picked by the natives.

Robusta is grown mainly in Africa, Brazil and Vietnam.

Arabica beans are considered superior to Robusta. Robustas are usually limited to lower grade coffee blends as a filler - usually used for instant coffee.

Important facts about coffee

Different coffee companies blend and "brand" its coffee differently, just to confuse people. It's more or less the same shit, with different names.

Anyway, coffee beans are relatively cheap as it is produced in 3rd world countries. Why then, you may ask, is coffee so expensive when you buy it in the shops ?

Why is regular petrol (RON 92 - RM1.88 sen per litre) still very much cheaper than a mug of the cheapest coffee ("coffee of the day") at Starbucks ?

A regular / medium mug (about 300 ml) of the cheapest coffee (coffee of the day) at Starbucks cost about RM8.

300 ml of petrol cost only about RM0.56 sen.

I can see you coffee drinkers are all sad already...

Now you know who is the super Star and who has the big Bucks. ;) - sorry, it ain't you.

Pointed out earlier, the coffee beans itself are cheap.

What special expertise does it take to make a cup of coffee ? A Rm4.50 per hour waiter (opps...Barista) ? Absolutely not.

No high technology or expertise required, at all, to make a cup of coffee. And yet, its.....RM ? per mug.

At least for petrol, there are high costs for exploration, extraction, research, scientists, chemists, engineers etc etc just to produce the final product. But it is still very much cheaper than....hehehe....coffee.

Ok, I wont make you people depressed anymore...

On the bright side, this is what all the exotic stuff you've been drinking mean:
view Coffee For Dummies

To cheer you up further, I've also included a fun quiz Do You Know Your Coffee ?

Secret Mantra

I admit that I am superstitious and gullible.
But today I learned something new.
I will not believe blindly anything I read on the internet or anywhere else anymore.
Not everything people say or write about, is true.
There is no bomoh practising black magic living in a cave in the jungles of Pahang.
The story was completely made up.

There is a bomoh practising black magic living in middle earth called click here.

An accurate reading of your life ? Naadi Shastra

Naadi Shastra claims that your life is already written down and is, thus, predestined. An expert Nadi reader will be able to tell your name, parent's name, spouse's name (if any), career paths etc with accuracy, provided "your leaf"can be found.

I had accounts of two friends who had gone to India for such readings and they reported that those readings to be very accurate. One said that the Nadi reader knew her name and her boss' name. He also accurately told her about the situation in her career at that moment. The other friend said that the Nadi reader knew his name, his spouse's and his children's names. Apparently, the Nadi reader also knew about his career problems at that time, and predicted that in a few months from then, there will be a mass retrenchment exercise in his company and he will be promoted to fill a superior position. All that came true.

However, 2 years ago, another friend of mine, Shiva Kumar visited a Nadi reader from India who was accepting "clients" at an ashram (in a house in Petaling Jaya). Apparently this Nadi reader was so famous thus he was fully booked. My friend only managed to secure an appointment with this "famous" Nadi reader, after making several attempts within the span of 1 week, even then, he was only accepted to replace someone else who had cancelled her appointment. Anyway, his reading lasted approximately 45 minutes and cost RM200.

My friend told me later that despite being "famous", that Nadi reader could not tell him anything with certainty - not his name, his parents' names, career etc. Apparently, the Nadi reader held open a laptop and was reading an astrology chat on the laptop while "interpreting" a few palm leaves (Nadi leaves) by his side. My friend felt cheated. The Nadi reader was "cold reading - bullshitting his way", said my friend.

According to Wikipedia, Nadi astrology (naadi jothidam) is a form of astrology practised in Tamil Nadu, India. It is based on the belief that the past, present and the future lives of all humans were foreseen by Hindu sages in ancient times [and was recorded] on Palm leaves.

Nadi Astrology leaves can be traced back to approximately more than 2000 years. These Nadi leaves were initially stored in the premises of Tanjore Saraswati Mahal Library of Tamilnadu. Some leaves got destroyed and the remaining were auctioned during the British rule. These Nadi leaves were obtained and possessed by the families of astrologers in Vaitheeswaran Temple. This is an art passed down [through] the years from one generation to the other.

The notion that astrologers claim these predictions were made for all human beings who have lived or will ever live is not completely true. Nadi astrologers say only a certain number of souls' future predictions are there in the leaves. They are reported cases of exact match in the past details and future predictions. Since the prophecy is written in the form of Tamil verses, their interpretation is subject to the nadi astrologer's way of understanding and interpreting them. But those who can understand poetic Tamil (professors, etc.) can understand the verses without the help of an astrologer.

Dr Amir Farid Isahak, a medical specialist who practises holistic, aesthetic and anti-ageing medicine, wrote in The Star that he had gone for an Nadi reading.

Dr Amir wrote, "It took over 1½ hours just to select my Nadi leaf. This was done through a process of elimination. When the correct leaf was found, what it contained was astounding."

Dr. Amir reported that the leaves said,
“You will be astonished by our powers. You will be seeking knowledge about Siddhas and be blessed. You may be a Muslim, but you are fated to know all these. You will get more knowledge and become like a Siddha yourself. You will get very clear high-level knowledge in your mind. You will discover a lot of truths, and will encounter a lot of surprises. You are fated to know secrets. You were born into this world to know the Truth.”

Apparently what the leaves "said" was accurate and congruent with his life path.

Have anyone of you heard of this ? Do you believe in fortune telling ? Please comment.
