I Received this in an email.

----------------------------------

HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED?
You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids.
- Derrick, age 8

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MOM AND DAD HAVE IN COMMON?
Both don't want any more kids.
- Lori, age 8

WHAT WOULD YOU DO ON A FIRST DATE THAT WAS TURNING SOUR?
I'd run home and play dead. The next day I would call all the newspapers and make sure they wrote about me in all the dead columns.
- Craig, age 9

WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE?
When they're rich.
- Pam, age 7

S IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED?
It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them.
- Anita, age 9

HOW WOULD THE WORLD BE DIFFERENT IF PEOPLE DIDN'T GET MARRIED?
There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn't there?
- Kelvin, age 8

HOW WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK?
Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a truck hit her.

Girl Marries A Frog

Vigneswari (left) and her bridegroom (on the stick, right)

While many women have to experience kissing many frogs in the quest of finding their prince, 8 year old R Vigneswari actually married a frog.

The marriage, held at the Pallu Puthupattu village on the Tamil Nadu- Puducherry border this month, was part of the traditional "Pongal" harvest festival to "prevent the outbreak of mysterious diseases in the village.

Apart from the "bridegroom" being fished out from a tank from the local temple, the wedding was like any normal Hindu wedding. The residents of the villiage adopted all the traditional Hindu rituals, including the "bridegroom" and its entourage visiting the residence of the bride, Vigneswari and obtaining her parents' consent for the marriage.

This ceremony follows the story of the Hindu God Shiva who turned himself into a frog after a quarrel with his wife Parvati. Because of this, she cried for many days causing disease to spread in the local villages. When the villages sought her help, she sent them to find Shiva and plead with him to marry a young girl. When Shiva agreed, Parvati herself posed as the girl. When they were married, they returned to their original god forms and the outbreak ceased.

Thief Steals Diam's Shoes

A. Testoni

It was reported that a thief broke into the house of former finance minister, Tun Daim Zainuddin, past 4 security guards and 6 guard dogs to steal 3 pairs of shoes.

Apparently the incident happened between 8pm and 12 midnight on Sunday at Tun Daim's house in Jalan Kolam Air Panas, Taman Melawati, Kuala Lumpur.

Although the news report did not mention the types of shoes stolen, they could be very expensive pairs of Italian shoes. I wouldn't be surprised if the stolen shoes include the ones made by A. Testoni; reportedly the most expensive ready made men's shoes in the world, costing US$1,500 (almost RM5,000) a pair.

However expensive those shoes were, I doubt the thief would be able to sell those shoes at Chow Kit road or anywhere else for more than RM10 per pair; second hand shoes do not fetch high prices.

Feng Shui Grand Master Yap Cheng Hai Predicts...

Yap Cheng Hai, one of the world's most renowned feng shui grand masters and considered by many to be "the real McCoy" sifu in classical feng shui, spoke to the local media yesterday about his predictions for 2009 and the coming years ahead.

The 82-year-old sifu, who heads the Yap Cheng Hai Academy, predicts bad times and advised people to persevere and work hard in face of the challenging years ahead.

Grandmaster Yap also warned that as cash flow will slow down from July onwards, people should be careful with their money.

He says the worse is yet to come and hard times would last for 11 years - the years 2009 until 2012 will be bad and the economy would only recover in 2013.

The grandmaster however added that the period from 2009 until 2024 is the golden age for young men. This is the time when new rich men will arise following the ending of the era of successful young women.

The year of the Ox, Yap says, would be exceptionally bad for those born under the sign of the Ox and the Sheep.

This year, the sifu advised people to start work on the 3rd and 5th days of the Chinese New Year, going to office before 9am but not after 9.30am.

Read about how your animal sign will fare this year.

Despite feng shui having millions of followers worldwide, I know some of you are still skeptical about this Chinese geomancy being an art or a science, either in predicting the future or enhancing one's fortune.

Nonetheless, those still curious about feng shui can proceed to read Guided By Feng Shui and Feng Shui & Politics.

For those who wish to enhance their luck this year, read how the powerful bomoh in Pahang for power and wealth can help you. And if you want to "buang sui" (dispel bad luck from yourself), read about the Mandi Bunga ritual.

For what its worth, I wish you all the best of luck despite the talk of forthcoming gloom.

Fined Only RM1,300 For Selling Poisonous Herbal Products

A local English daily reported that a former national sportsman was fined only RM1,300 by the Magistrate’s Court in Kuala Lumpur after he pleaded guilty to marketing 2 herbal products containing poison.

The products apparently contained “sildenafil” which was listed as poison under the Poisons Act 1952. He was charged under Section 13(a) of the Act and liable to a fine of up to RM3,000 or imprisonment not exceeding two years.

The Magistrate ordered the offender to pay RM800, in default 4 months’ jail, with regard to one product and RM500, in default 2 months’ jail, for the other.

In light of this case, shouldn't the Poisons Act 1952 be amended to reflect the severity of the offense ? Fining an offender selling poison less than RM1,000 for each offense is hardly a deterrent.

Whilst in 1952, when the Poisons Act was first enacted, the penalty would be sufficient, but not today. Shouldn't the fine be revised corresponding to the rate of inflation for the past 50 years ?

No wonder one can even find some pasar malam traders and "MLM entrepreneurs" selling all kinds of unauthorised "herbal remedies" from China, India, Indonesia and Thailand in recent years.

Tigers As Food Or As Pets

Thai police officers with the carcasses of tigers seized in
Hua Hin on Monday. — DM picture

BANGKOK: Their heads hacked from their graceful bodies, this tragic picture shows the fate of tigers in the brutal hands of poachers.

At the rapid rate tigers are poached everyday, for the last 30 years, I would have thought they'd already be extinct by now.

Police seized tiger carcasses weighing up to 250kg from a lorry passing through Hua Hin, a popular tourist resort, in the Prachuap Kiri Khan province on Monday.

The tigers were believed to be smuggled from Malaysia and on their way to China, police said. Two Thai men had been arrested in connection with the smuggling.

In Malaysia, some dead tigers would probably be sold to "specialty restaurants" in Puchong, Selangor or Kahang, Johor.

National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department chief Upai Wayupat told the Bangkok Post daily that the carcasses would be tested to determine if the animals were domesticated or otherwise.

He said the tests, to be conducted at Kasetsart University's Kamphaeng Saen campus, would take up to two weeks.

"If they were captive tigers, officials will investigate which farms they came from," said Upai, adding that breeding tigers was a popular business as wildlife smugglers could fetch as much as a million baht (RM100,000) for a tiger.

He said Thailand was a major transit point for wildlife smuggling.

With profits so high, traffickers are usually armed and ready to do battle -- and China is one of the world's biggest markets for tigers.

It was reported in the BBC that there is a restaurant in Beijing, China that specialises in exotic dishes. It also serves a very unusual delicacy; animal penises.

Last month, Malaysia, where the tigers were believed to have been captured, announced plans to step up its protection of the creatures.

Numbers of tigers have dropped in Malaysia from 3,000 to 500 in the past half-century, mostly because of illegal hunting and human encroachment.

Tiger meat is exported, served at exotic restaurants and used in traditional Chinese medicine.

Asians believe that when one eats tiger's meat, he'll become as fierce and brave as a tiger. President elect Barack Obama has admitted in his book, Dreams From My Father, that his Indonesian stepfather gave him tiger's meat to eat when he was young.

Some even ventured to suggest that if you ate Tiger Woods, you'd become a good golfer. I don't know if this is true, as no one has yet tried to assassinate Tiger Woods to eat him.

It is illegal to kill tigers in Malaysia and the World Wildlife Fund was optimistic that the new 12-year plan to step up protection of the big cats will help boost their population.

To prevent tigers from being extinct, I suggest that the government permit people keeping tigers as pets, but with stringent conditions. For instance, impose a huge license fee on the owners - RM100,000 as year and permit only one tiger per family. This is to ensure that people don't purchase tigers to resell them to restaurants and only those who can really afford be allowed to keep a pet tiger. This may not be an ideal solution to the poaching problem, but it is feasible enough to keep enough tigers alive, if not in the wild, as least in good homes. In east Malaysia, rich towkays are already keeping endangered animals as pets.

How Much Will You Pay To Find Love ?

InterActiveCorp, who owns successful paid online dating sites Match.Com and Chemistry.Com has recently launched free dating site called downtoearth.com.

This free dating site has given raise to the believe by industry observers that the paid online dating business model is meeting its end.

The revamp of the old business model is presumably because people are not keen on paying online match making services to find suitable mates.

Whilst paid online dating may be running its final phrase, a 41 year old Chinese Billionaire has recently paid close to US$44,000 for a personal ad in a local newspaper looking for a wife.

The ad which included a love poem and the criteria for potential mates, attracted 100 applications thus far.

What do you think, people ? How much will you pay to find the perfect match ?

Newscaster And Actress Caught At Sex Party

A newscaster and an actress were among 26 people, between 18-31 years old, caught in a sex party at Cabana Inn in Jalan P. Ramlee Kuala Lumpur early in the morning on new year's day.

It was reported in the press that the 22-year-old newscaster for Astro, is also engaged and is due to be married next week.

The actress, 25, has played a role in a movie made by a well known film director.

Apparently, when the police raided the room at about 3.30am, some of those in party were already high on drugs.

The party was said to be organised by 2 men through the online social network, Friendster.

The police found various types of alcoholic drinks, condoms and drugs at hotel room including ketamine, cocaine and syabu.

Although sex parties are nothing new in Malaysia, the extend of these parties being propagated through the Internet is interesting to note.

According to a news report, sex parties are organised by a few friends and acquaintances, who send out invitation to others via the Internet and handphones.

The venue is kept secret until the last minute. Once everything is set, an sms by handphone is sent to participants who pay between RM100 to RM300 to attend.

Sex parties are organised on a "small scale" with 4 participants, to large ones with more than 30 participants.

Drugs and alcohol are commonly made available to assist participants lose their inhibitions. Almost anything goes at these parties, including swapping partners. In some parties, women put on different coloured lipsticks and perform oral sex on the men.
